Product Description
A marine navigation mark may be approached by vessels using different radar bands. The DX-RACON-02 Dual Band provides X-band and S-band identification in one RACON, giving compatible vessel radars a coded reference associated with the designated aid.
The operating frequencies are 9300–9500 MHz on X-band and 2900–3100 MHz on S-band. When interrogated by compatible radar, the unit returns a configured identification response. This is relevant to navigation buoys, lighthouses and fixed marine structures where both radar bands are included in the project requirement.
An engineering-plastic radome and 316 stainless-steel base provide a housing option for projects specifying this construction. Together with IP68 protection, a −40°C to +70°C operating range, 9–36 V DC input and an RS485 interface, the specification helps the team plan the material, power and connection requirements alongside the radar function.

Choose a radar beacon around both the vessels using your area and the construction required at the site. The DX-RACON-02 Dual Band supports X-band and S-band within the same unit, using an engineering-plastic radome and 316 stainless-steel base where that mounting material is specified.
Selectable identification codes allow the response to be matched to the navigation mark’s assigned identity. The 360° omnidirectional horizontal coverage supports approaches from different bearings, while the antenna position and surrounding structures remain part of the site design.
The result is an installation that can be planned around radar identification, mounting, DC power and system connection together. This is relevant for a new navigation aid or an equipment replacement where the project needs to retain compatibility with both radar bands.

Where the project calls for a stainless-steel mounting base, the DX-RACON-02 provides a 316 stainless-steel base together with an engineering-plastic radome. This puts the housing-material requirement into the equipment selection while retaining the dual-band radar-identification function.
Plan the lower mounting flange, fixing access and external cable route together with the buoy deck, fixed beacon or lighthouse structure. The illustrated exterior shows the original connection arrangement; use the supplied documentation to confirm the interface and cable requirements for the delivered equipment.
The RS485 serial interface provides a basis for connection to compatible host equipment. Monitoring through another terminal depends on the external integration arrangement and the functions agreed for the project. Reviewing those details before installation helps the electrical preparation follow the supplied configuration.
The unit supports X-band at 9300–9500 MHz and S-band at 2900–3100 MHz. It is intended for projects requiring coded identification for compatible vessel radars operating on either band, including sites where the vessel mix or project specification calls for both.
Dual-band selection broadens the supported radar-band coverage at the marked location. Compatibility still needs to be checked against the radar equipment and project requirement; the two supported frequency bands should be stated clearly in the purchase specification and reviewed during commissioning.
When interrogated by compatible radar, the RACON returns a configured identification response. Supported codes include A–Z, 0–9, NW, NE, SW and SE. The response provides an identifiable pattern associated with the designated aid rather than relying only on its ordinary radar echo.
Select the code according to the project’s marking plan and the responsible authority’s requirements. Recording the assigned code in the project documentation also gives the installation team a defined value to confirm during setup and acceptance.
Practical response depends on compatible vessel radar, antenna height, mounting position, surrounding obstructions and site conditions. Define the required operating area and both radar-band requirements before installation so the equipment position can be assessed against the intended use.
During commissioning, check the assigned identification code and observe the response on compatible X-band and S-band radar as required by the project. This verifies the installed configuration at the site and gives the team a basis for acceptance against the agreed specification.
