Product Description
A navigation mark needs to be recognisable to the vessels approaching it. The DX-RACON-02 Single Band provides a configured coded response to compatible X-band radar, helping the mariner associate the radar indication with the designated buoy, lighthouse or fixed marine aid.
This version operates at 9300–9500 MHz. Its engineering-plastic radome and 316 stainless-steel base provide a housing option for projects with a stainless-steel mounting-material requirement, while the selectable response code allows the radar identity to follow the project’s marking plan.
The unit combines 360° omnidirectional horizontal coverage, IP68 protection and a −40°C to +70°C operating range. A 9–36 V DC input and RS485 serial interface give the project team defined electrical and connection requirements to consider alongside the structure, power supply and installation position.

Give your marine mark an identifiable response on compatible X-band radar. The DX-RACON-02 Single Band receives radar interrogation and returns the configured code, providing a radar reference that can be associated with the designated navigation aid.
On a navigation buoy or fixed beacon, this adds identification information alongside the visual marking arrangement. The engineering-plastic radome and 316 stainless-steel base also give the project a defined housing construction to match its mounting and material requirements.

Choose the radar beacon around both the operational requirement and the installation specification. The DX-RACON-02 Single Band is intended for projects requiring X-band response at 9300–9500 MHz, with a 316 stainless-steel base where that mounting material is specified.
Selectable response codes allow the radar identification to be assigned to the navigation mark. The 360° omnidirectional horizontal coverage supports approaches from different bearings, while the actual antenna position and the surrounding structure remain part of the site design.
This combination lets the procurement and engineering teams consider the signal requirement, housing material, mounting surface and power supply together. It is relevant to new marine aids and equipment replacements where the offered construction must match the project specification.
Q1. Does this single-band version match the radar used by our vessels?
The DX-RACON-02 Single Band operates on X-band at 9300–9500 MHz and responds to compatible marine-radar interrogation. It is intended for projects specifying X-band identification of the designated navigation mark.
Check the vessel-radar band and any requirements in the project specification before ordering. This version provides X-band response; where S-band response is also required, an appropriate dual-band configuration should be selected. Stating the band requirement clearly helps the delivered equipment match the intended application.
Q2. How does the RACON identify our mark among nearby radar targets?
The unit returns a configured identification code when interrogated by compatible radar. Supported responses include A–Z, 0–9, NW, NE, SW and SE, allowing the coded indication to be associated with the designated aid.
Select the code according to the project’s marking plan and the responsible authority’s requirements. Recording the assigned code in the project documentation also gives installation and acceptance teams a clear value to confirm when checking the radar response at the site.
Q3. Can it run from the existing power system on our buoy or beacon?
The input specification is 9–36 V DC, with a typical 12 V DC supply. An existing power system may be suitable if it meets the electrical requirements and has enough capacity for the RACON together with the other connected devices.
Average consumption is ≤2 W at a 1:1 operating-to-silent ratio. Keep that condition in the power calculation, and account for the actual settings, battery reserve and charging conditions. An external solar-and-battery system can be assessed as part of the site supply arrangement.
