Product Description
This buoy combines a steel float body, steel tail tube and cast-iron ballast with an UHMWPE lantern tower. The combined steel and UHMWPE construction provides a strong, repairable main structure while reducing painting and maintenance requirements around the lantern installation.
2400 mm Steel Float · UHMWPE Lantern Tower · Modular Assembly · Flange-Connected · Protected Lantern Position · Replaceable Upper Components

The steel float body and tail tube provide the structural strength, support the ballast system, and help maintain the buoy’s stability in the water.
The lantern tower is made from UHMWPE pipe rather than conventional painted steel. UHMWPE does not require routine repainting and provides resistance to impact, abrasion and seawater exposure.
This combination keeps steel in the main load-bearing structure while using UHMWPE in areas that are more frequently exposed to contact and maintenance work.
Maintenance teams need practical access to the lantern without dismantling the complete upper structure.
An external ladder provides access to the lantern position, while the lantern can be removed from above without first removing the protection cage, protective ring or topmark support.
This arrangement reduces the number of parts that must be handled during routine lantern inspection or replacement.
A hot-dip galvanized angle-steel cage surrounds the lantern position and helps protect it from accidental contact.
The protective ring provides additional protection while remaining separate from the lantern, so a damaged component does not require replacement of the complete upper structure.

The steel float body receives a multi-layer marine coating system consisting of primer coats, topcoats and an additional high-performance anti-corrosion layer.
Connection flanges and exposed steel components in the upper assembly are hot-dip galvanized and protected with an additional coating. The UHMWPE lantern tower itself does not require painting.
The buoy can be configured for:
- Channel and waterway marking
- Coastal navigation marking
- Port approaches and harbour entrances
- Offshore navigation marks
- Areas where lantern structures are exposed to frequent contact
- Long-term installations requiring practical maintenance access
The colour, topmark and lantern characteristic should be selected according to the required navigation mark and local authority specifications.
Configured for the Required IALA Mark
The topmark helps identify the buoy’s function during daylight.
Dexonmarine can configure the buoy with the appropriate IALA topmark, colour and light characteristic for lateral, cardinal, special, isolated danger, safe water or emergency wreck marking, according to Region A or Region B and local authority requirements.

The UHMWPE lantern tower does not require routine repainting and is suitable for long-term exposure to marine conditions.
The external ladder, top-access lantern arrangement and independently removable components make inspection and replacement more convenient.
The angle-steel protection cage and surrounding upper components help reduce the risk of accidental lantern damage.
UHMWPE resists impact, abrasion and seawater exposure and does not require routine corrosion-control painting.
